Make Out Party (lyric video) - https://youtu.be/aDUEKeXDCr4
This lyric video is awesome, love the start of this song, the guitar riff sounds really big, sounds like the song could have gone a different way completely, Brandon's voice sounds really nice up high in this song, wonder if it's a song they will play live though... _________________ 19th January 2002 - Wembley, London

Sounds much better than the leaked versions (obviously). Pretty well done for a lyric video IMO and surprisingly positive feedback from viewers so far. |

I was about to say that. Saw at least four comments praising the lyrics. Uhm. ok.
It's cleared up a lot compared to the leaks, which was to be expected. Helps a bit. Still not a fan, though. Can't imagine this song making the setlist often after this album cycle, don't think Brandon's vocal chords will be happy with singing falsetto verses like that every night. _________________ 30 May 2008 | 18 June 2011| 10 July 2012| 16 June 2015 |

Not gonna lie, it took a few listens, but I dig. I try not to pigeonhole bands and expect a certain type of a song from them so, although very different, I can get on board with this.
Sounds like incubus and Prince made a baby. _________________ - Nick

Yeah same here. First time I listened I was too shocked by the lyrics to enjoy it. But now I'm feeling this. Not in love like I was with Trust Fall but this is in no way an abomination.
People complain about Brandon's non-direct lyrics about existence and the universe and then they complain about his VERY direct lyrics in this song.
I think Incubus mixed with Prince is a perfect way to put it. It's just that no one was expecting something like this. |

I like how the Lyric Video looks, but I still don't like the song. |

It's weird. The vocals on the verses are definitely divisive, but I don't mind it. Overall I like the song, but it's not amazing or anything. Trust Fall has maintained that level for me so far though.
This lyric video is very cool. _________________ June 30, 2004 - Hershey, PA

The chorus is pretty great, and I've gotten used to the falsetto verses.
It actually has a strange heavy/somber tone to it.
I enjoy it, although wouldn't exactly put it in my top Incubus songs. |

I think I'm becoming one of those people who long for the "old" Incubus.
Oh well. |

It's not as bad as I was expecting after reading all the comments. I actually prefer it to Trust Fall. The lyrics are a bit cringe worthy, but the heavy guitar makes up for it. |

I'm embarrassed, because I'm coming around hard on this one.
I was really turned off at first, listening to this on my phone, but once I got a good pair of headphones and gave it six or seven spins, layers started unfurling themselves in a really rewarding way. The ascending, echo-y synth line on the verses? The video game/harp-ish noise (familiar from the bridge in Circles, I think)? Joser's massive crash hits? Hell, I'm even coming around on the melody, especially on be-cause I knowwww you, won't be heeeld onto.
And let's talk about fucking more! Come on! I love the fingerbanging line. |

Agreed, I really am coming around to this one.
At first, it seemed poppy, but it's taken on a much darker vibe after repeat listens. |

I think the video gives actually made me enjoy the song more. It provides a certain color along with the lyrics that helps you to understand more closely what the intended vibe might be. _________________ -Roger |

As I said in the other thread I'm actually feeling this one pretty good. The tone of the overall track is just really well put together. Also, as said above the lyric video did put a cool twist to give it even more depth then it previously held. |

Ive come around in the sense that the song is much better than the written lyrics, when ricochet posted them, suggested. I genuinely thought he was trolling at the time. The song went up from 1/10 to a 3/10 after the first listen, and I guess for me it's around a 6/10 now. I like it better than most of INNW, the darker, nastier vibe is something I enjoy more than the smooth tone of that album. _________________ 30 May 2008 | 18 June 2011| 10 July 2012| 16 June 2015 |

Upon reading the lyrics before the leak and hearing opinions on it, i was very wary. Upon hearing the song for the first time I recoiled and wondered what the fuck had gone wrong with Incubus.
A few more listens in it's become my current absolute jam. I've been spinning it a ridiculous amount, the guitar harp-y sounds slamhole mentioned, the bass work in the middle section, the way the falsetto vocals are set against the sludgy as hell backdrop just really does things for me.
I amongst others wanted less lyrics about love this time round, and I find it hilarious that instead we got one about full on fucking. _________________ http://soundcloud.com/nautuk |

I take back what I said.
After buying the album and listening to "Make Out Party," it is, for sure, very different, but I love it. It has a good vibe to it, and the bass is awesome. |
