The only solution I can think of is to come straight out and say "This is the non-singles, deep cuts only tour (we're 100% not playing Drive)" similar to when bands play an entire album, and promote it as such. That's the only way for them to clear out all the clutter and not feel the obligation of having to appease casual fans.

Ideally, this would be a theater tour. Play small venues, multiple nights in the same city so they can cover a whole lot of their catalog, and we can all stop complaining about boring set lists once and for all (including myself haha).

I thought about this idea too. The Living End (Australian band) did this in Aus a few years ago. They went to all the major cities and played 6 (7?) nights in a row.

If Incubus did a S.C.I.E.N.C.E. show where they played it fully through (20th anniversary is in 2017...), even if it was just 1 show in LA that was announced months ahead of time so you could plan to travel if need be, it would shut the majority of old school fans up. Including me. And it's only 12 songs so they could play some other deep cuts and maybe even a Fungus song or two afterwards. I can dream...

A deep cuts, small venue tour would also be great as mentioned above.

It's all well and good wishing for this and wishing for that, but I'd rather see the band do something that no one is expecting. And I won't give an example because then I'd be expecting it!

The reason being that it's always disappointing getting exactly what you want. No surprises, no excitement, just a fantasy that's been played out in your head a thousand times being played out in reality. It's the same thing as playing a singles setlist every night; getting what you already expect. Boring.
I loathe bands that kowtow to their fans demands. It shows a lack of spine and gives the impression that they don't have confidence in themselves anymore.

I agree that they need to mix it up, a lot, but they should take advice on how to do so from no one (least of all me).

Screw S.C.I.E.N.C.E. Pathogens and all 4 movements of the odyssey. Take my money.

I agree. They just need to jam man (hippie voice). Plain and simple. More jamming.

On a related note, I just re-watched this gem from the Incubus HQ sessions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eO9chN8kSM

"do something that no one is expecting..." i'll bite.

like in that Jam Clip - if the guys were to swap out their positions for an entire show, what lineup would you like to see? handpicked, or pulled from a bag?

for fun, mine - brandon (bass), mike (turntables), kil (drums), jose (guitar), ben (vocals & whatever else brandon plays with onstage)...

I don't think I'd want to see Brandon anywhere but behind the mic. And I never really got the idea Jose is capable of playing other instruments properly.

Anyway, band has thrown in some new songs for this tour over the last few shows: Warning and Stellar made their tour debut in West Palm Beach and Austin.

Calgone!!!!

What a great surprise for my 18th Incubus show.

I hadn't looked at the setlists so Vitamin was also a nice surprise.

Wow. There is snippet of it on Incubus instagram. It sounds fantastic.

Honestly, this makes up for so a lot of the lack of variation. Such a treat to fans that they play this and we know Nebula is in the mix somewhere too.

Now this is what I'm talking about! CALGOOOOONE.

Fantastic. Let's now start a "Azwethinkweiz" or "You Will be a Hot Dancer" campaign.

Well I was kind of on the fence. I saw that the flight dropped a good amount this morning...then I spit out my coffee when I saw that Instagram post. Just felt right haha...so basically yea it did seal the deal.

Though I realize them playing it again is extreeeemely unlikely. Don't get me wrong!

You never know. Vegas is a show with only Incubus, right? Could help with it. Or who knows now what else could pop up. Even though we knew they rehearsed Calgone, I didn't really expect them to play it.

Fingers crossed for tonight!

Incubus is playing two back to back nights in Vegas so the chances are very high that you'll hear some of the sound check songs.

Plus it's the long weekend and most people bought tickets for both nights.

Haha, I added that. It's probably the rarest song in the Ben era. Played the fewest times, except for Monuments and Melodies but that was HQ, with Ben. The only song from SCIENCE onwards they've yet to play with Ben is Deep Inside.
