I thought I'd start a thread as a place to talk about the new BB album...I can change the title to whatever he decides to call the album as soon as that is announced.

Here's BB's tweet from today (Friday, Jan. 18, 2013) officially acknowledging that the album is in the mixing stage:

Quote:
Mixing my new album this week and finishing the new book as well! I'm so excited I'm gonna lip kiss the first person I see. #breathmints?

And of course the only other piece of information about the album is Josh Freese's tweet from December 18, 2012, confirming that Freese did the drum tracks for the album and Brendan O'Brien is producing:

Quote:
Finished up drum tracks for Brandon Boyd's record. Good, quick, productive time recording with Brendan O'Brien (as usual.)

Saw that.
It seems like it's going to be an online release.

Excited for BB's new album, it seems like he's staying pretty undercover on it. I'm guessing a May release?

can't wait what's in store from Boyd this time around. I liked his first album , but the instrumental sound of it wasn't that great. I hope this sounds a lot better instrumentally.

If the album is being mixed this week, then hopefully we'll hear a new song by March, surely?

if its being mixed, i can't imagine the wait being that long.

March or April at the latest is my guess.

Agreed. He's been pretty hush-hush about the whole thing. These days, artists often tweet or post pictures during the recording process. Not so here. It was Jack White-ish in the sense that we didn't know he was making a new album until Freese & Boyd basically informed us that it's done. Can't wait to hear what BB has been writing.

I hope this is right, I'd love for a early to mid spring release

Brandon Boyd @mybrandonboyd
Oh yeah! I finished my album, and the new book is dangerously close to being done. What a Spring/Summer it's going to be!

I'm still guessing an early May release. Perhaps end of April, only time will tell. Stoked none the less!

Why's everything so hush hush about this album? He needs to starts promoting it right now if he's shooting for a spring release

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember much promotion for Wild Trapeze either. Maybe he just likes keeping it low profile?

That seems to be his preference, but I wonder why? Surely he has all the song titles finalized, and possibly an album title. Why not pass those along to fans?

BB certainly realizes he's not nearly as mainstream as he used to be (Make Yourself/Morning View era). Some social media promotion among fans would be key to his success with this album, and us fans would be happy to spread the word. We just need some news/information to do so

What label is this record even being released on? Who, besides brandons own mngmt. team would be promoting it anyway? And, I'm sure he isn't anticipating this to be hugely successful. To me it seems like he doesn't want to promote it too much, for what reasons, i don't know.

I don't even really like to know what or when... takes me out of the now.

Speaking of, I just got a copy of Wild Trapeze a couple days ago, and have really been getting into that. We all know why it is we are waiting with such anticipation, I just rather forget about it for now anyways.

Billboard wrote:
Following the album's release, Boyd says he will most likely go out on a solo tour. He told Billboard that he'd love to share the stage with The Rolling Stones or U2, adding that he is anxious to get out on the road. "I'll open for anybody. I'll play for anybody…whoever will have me."
