There is way too much bickering here.

10) Everyone RELAX> This isnt as bad as INN,W. As bad as Make Out Party may be, the construction of the song isnt as bad as Promises.

Stop overanalyzing and enjoy the ride.

Wait, so Make Out Party is bad?

I think surf meant lyrically.

After about 2 months of "Absolution Calling", I still think it's a good song.

I do however kind of get a similar feeling from it that I got from when I remember listening to Make A Move and Black Heart Inertia when they came out. They're all good songs, and Absolution Calling is a better song than both, but neither of the three songs are "holy crap, Incubus struck gold" type songs from first listen.

Now with Trust Fall, that song is quickly becoming one of my favorite songs from the band. I really think the band would greatly benefit from a radio edit, along with a music video.

On a related point, as much flack as radio gets, it rarely lies.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incubus_discography

Pardon Me, Stellar, Drive, Wish You Were Here, Warning, Megalomaniac, Talk Shows On Mute, Anna-Molly, Dig, Love Hurts, and Adolescents were all top 4 or better singles on Modern Rock radio. Each of those songs has a distinctive quality that makes them deserving of having been played on the radio at a vast rate. Basically, these songs are all "holy crap, Incubus struck gold" type songs from first listen IMO.

The only shock in my opinion is Nice To Know You, which I have a hard time fathoming why it only peaked at #9.

However, the rest of the band's singles have performed no better than #7 on the charts. While it is nevertheless remarkable that the band has produced 14 Top 10 and 17 Top 20 hits, I think the band has it in them to produce top 5/top 3/#1 hits without having to overly compromise creatively.

Now, why would I emphasize the band's performance on the radio? I think there is a strong correlation with how radio responds to a single and how fans generally receive the song. Almost no Incubus fan, casual or diehard, can doubt just how good all the top 4 charting singles are.

The only exception might be Love Hurts which a number of fans here have a strong distaste for, but even said fans would have a hard time disputing that the song was a surefire hit as a single. Also, I know plenty of diehards outside this forum who love Love Hurts.

Absolution Calling currently sits at #20 on the Alternative Rock chart (where Incubus has enjoyed the majority of their success), but ironically is at #12 on the Mainstream Rock chart (where the band has not had as much success).

Haha, opinions are allowed... I actually might side with you on this one... might be the first song by the band that I hate, but we'll see.

New incubus means I rear my ugly head.

I dig this song. It's not 'holy crap' (none of the songs have been for me), but it's a solid track.
