Hi. Smile

Signify

Forgone conclusion culminating in an outstretched palm
Piecing together relentlessness with a silent psalm
Receiving transmissions digging beneath the skin
Perished long ago on a surface of ice

A race to infinity between morning and dawn
Plucking a strand from the bleak chaotic calm
Believing the end to be a place to begin
Malnourished the morning with magmatic eyes

The rise, the fall, the breath of the exposed
For to languish the stars is to lacerate the flesh
From the gods descends contempt for lack of control
High-rise at sundown as demon's wings unfold

But is this the seed from whence it was scorned
To ignite all the graveyards and carrion birds
Soaring upon midnight with black feathers unfurled
Reshaped in my image and letting all of it burn

Break me
Elate me
Congregate upon me
Feed me
And steal me
Just say what I wanna hear

Your voices
The echoes
They feed her contempt
Your choices
The distortion
Just birth her despair

Give unto us the darkness as we give unto you our night
For our sight of the vision is blinded by your light
And we long to ignite that site upon which we first laid eyes
As we slept upon rose thorns and bled ourselves dry

The echoes of chaos resounding through cataclysmic waterfalls
Through mountain caps falling as the rain creates stains
Within finely woven satin-covered diamond-laced scars
She found me crucified and exalted upon my very own words

I dare say an interesting piece. Don't know what else to say other than adding my own expression in poetic form that was inspired by this gem of a nightmarish poem. Hope you like.

The Deeper, The Darker

The night is dark
Day closing its eyes,
The moon a light
Illuminating the night,
Hidden deep inside
Moments of demise,
Like consumin fire
Burning what's dry.

This is my legacy,
FOREVER LOST
FOREVER IN VAIN

This is heresy,
BURNED UP
BURNED AWAY

Ashes to sit in,
The remnants of life,
Scattered and wind-blown,
The living have died,
Nothing left to see,
But what once was,
Now and forever gone,
Like a drop of lost blood.

This is my legacy,
FOREVER LOST
FOREVER IN VAIN

This is heresy,
BURNED UP
BURNED AWAY

I think this is a very interesting poem Prototype. I'm not exactly sure what it's about although the whole mood is dark and brooding and there's definitely a femme fatale involved. You have a very powerful and creative way with words, the imagery is almost overwhelming.

It is quite dark. I like the mood. It is very imaginitive.

I really like the use of words. If you look at what I write a lot of times, mine has really bland use of verbage, where this poem explores the dictionary a little better. I got to give you props for that. And it's such a creative poem, I mean, I don't think I've seen dark poetry hold me so tight as this one does.

I am intrigued.

Interpretation is simply a reflection of the reader him/herself. For not all of us retreat to the safety of dream when the light is no more.

Wink

I'm glad the poem got you guys thinking. Don't contrast and compare, though. Instead, to thine own self be true... but don't be afraid to explore the unknown and awaken possibilities.

Oh, and no femme fatale. Sort of the opposite actually. Kinda. In a way.

Tif'eret

Trapped within the confines of blindfolds and weathered trappings
Burying treasures frozen cold from broken sunshine beneath the swell
She dwells outside the bitter-sweet veils of green hues and discretion
As molten marmalade digresses from above into an onyx anathema

The scythe of the reaper creeps across your bloody palms
And a psalm resounds inside a tomb inherited through expedition
Extraditing concave sentences that flatter the senses evenly
As it all gives way to dismay on the eve of aberration

Illumination in the stained glass windows taunting your remorse
Pouring pessimistic vials of indifference into the wells of eternity
Burgundy smiles and reflections of petrified hallowed poltergeists
Selling your soul for a morsel of soul to bleed out to the edge of tomorrow

And she softly murders sympathy beneath the old oak tree
A symphony of chaotic harmonies brewing from within the sea
A splash of apathy mingled with diligence as her eyes transfix
Upon a distant rescinding tidal wave echoing through the colony

Trapped within the confines of bloody palms and resounding expeditions
Burying frozen psalms and inherited sunshine beneath the tombs
She extradites concave dwellings outside the flattering veils of discretion
As molten marmalade gives way to onyx aberrations

The scythe of illumination stains the windows with weathered blindfolds
The broken cold beneath the swell indifferent to pitchers of eternity
Burgundy reflections smiling behind flattering extradited sentences
As it all gives way to a dismayed bleeding soul on the eve of yesterday

And she softly murders me above the enigmatic colony
A symphony of chaotic harmonies brewing from within the sea
Diligently slashing apathy with indifference as my eyes transfix
Upon an adjacent narrowing tempest resounding through the old oak tree

Risen

They once prayed for rain to escape through crystalline clouds
Finely woven teardrops broken and brisk to the touch
Dismember the moment and hallowed fanciful gallows
Ruptures of discord as a soliloquy extends into infinity

So a jaundiced flock of doves bleeds into seafoam tangerine seas
The spearmint breeze racing through wandering razorblade forests
A sword reforged with terraformed multifaceted malevolence
Yet they still serenade the stars and mingle under the leaves

They wonder sometimes why others can't rhyme or reason
Or climb central corridors sideways through the seasons
Tormenting oblivion's gate with nine cascading trees
Voices mellow and harmonizing with their own divinity

So near midnight she awaits with her eyes to the north and forgiving breath
Breaking these opaque melodies into thrice crowned kings
Grey granite obelisks rotating counter-clockwise in effigy
Asleep within a dream, a crown of thorns, and molten wings

Stunning!

Finely woven teardrops broken and brisk to the touch, is about the most imaginative metaphor for rain I've seen.

Thank you.

I wrote this one a long time ago, but I like to read it once a year around this time for the memories.

October

It's that moment before the truth escapes your lips
The scent of cigarettes and resentment in the air
The streetlights through black vertical horizons
And madness refracted through rusted lampshades

It's that moment before the lies escape your hips
The dance of firelights sauntering on your fingertips
The cesspools of electricity around our feet
And sadness reflected off the ceiling

It's that moment when crystals shatter like wine
The taste of specifics lingering around your voice
The ashes compacted inside your muddy palms
And refractions reflected through time

It's that moment when the moon dines on the divine
The sound of catapults incinerating meadows
The sensation of satin on your soul
And reflections refracted through rhyme

You probably don't need me to tell you how very good this is. You have an amazing ability with metaphors. You build layers on layers. Do you post your poetry elsewhere? I feel you really deserve a much wider audience.

I have a social media account that I post my stuff to, but it's reserved for my family so that they can keep up with what I've been working on over the years. I've also posted a few things here and there on occasion when I've been led to, when I feel others might benefit. There's another board I used to post on somewhat frequently, but I've lost interest in that forum as a whole for reasons I won't get into.

I don't really have a desire for a wide audience, as you put it. Perhaps I just don't feel that it's what my spirit wishes, at least not for the moment.

Anyhow, I'm glad you enjoy what I've shared thus far, and I hope it inspires any who read them as life and those that have wandered in and out of mine have inspired me over the years.

Here's something a little different for now. I like to dabble in spoken word from time to time, and this was one of my first forays into the genre.

Isis

Floating around in my mind is opening up my mind's eye
But is it my eye that I try to pry
Or the eye of the one I spy with these two earthly eyes

Gazing across your being, your flesh, your soul
Encumbered by the heavy weight of fate
Guiding me places I've never traversed, to a new-found thirst, to a brand new state
Once only quenched by the waters of a perfect rebirth
Rehearsed in the back of a mini-van
As it crossed the land on red-hot scorched earth
To this new land that I backhand with a pimp-slap upside it's sleepy head
"Wake up mother fucker!"
"See me for who I truly am..."

A being of light, of earth, of spirit pure
Electrified and reborn into a fragile wind that's demure
Yet capable of breaking you down
And sending your head spinning
Turning concrete frowns upside down
But once I lived my life in dis-guise
With my words so very un-wise
Until my eyes were pried open by a darkened kiss one night
With Grohl on the harmony vocal chords

Now I'm trying to reach nirvana and change up this persona
But it's not enough for you
To be all who is me on a mental plane of absolute purity
And ascend my soul to flawless spirituality
Reaching a state of perfect unity
While leaving in my wake the frail imperfections of physicality

To leave it all behind...

Leave it all behind

Even that which these two earthly eyes spy that is ever so divine
Sitting in a veil of blue hues under starlight shining night skies
Connected to her grace and generosity and yearning to make her mine?

Leave it all behind?

Her leaven soul tuned to the frequency of my heart's radio waves
As songs forever play of peace and joy and never dismay
A promise to always stay and never go astray
Into the black lit alley corners of the city's darkened days

Leave it all behind?

But alas...
Earthly possessions have no permeance for they are not permanent
And fade away upon the gusty winds of sweet peppermint
But the feelings in my heart
Are they too based in world without form and substance?

Form and Substance

Substance and Form

To form the letters of my soul as they reach out for comfort and control
Trying so hard to breach the confines of this illusionary optical
But not before I bequeath all that I've come to know
And bear my all for you and my name I will show

To KNOW my name

Realize it's the same name I once wore with shame
But now with pride and humility born
It all means the same in this silly game of blame
Masked behind two eyes that attempt to spy
Past the confines of the veil of tears I cried

For you I cried
For YOU I cried
But now I no longer hide behind shame and fear dealt out by my own hand
I'm coming up for air from this subterranean wasteland
Of deceit and denial inflicted by my own broken mind

For battles were waged and wars were won
And alone I'm the victor and I'm left number one
But this equation alas it must equal two
So come sit with me under peace, sun, and moon
Until all that is left is we and we form a divine trinity
A triangle of peace, love and harmony
And leave behind the bittersweet dissonance of darkened spirits to their own demise

Complete me and I you
For this equation again it must equal two
Two in mind and body and twin spiritual souls
Riding upon the wings of angels bearing crystalline halos
Coasting upon the autumn twilight winds with bodies intertwined
And leaving behind fleshly desires to taste the God's Nectar divine
Getting high on spiritual wine and off into the cosmos together we glide
With agonizing ecstasy induced from souls aching to climb
To the pinnacle of light off in the blue starry night's sky

So come with me my goddess
Come with me and see
See the world through eyes that know no reality

Come with me my goddess
And cleanse your soul with bliss
Embracing lips interlocking; give your final kiss

Come with me my goddess
And leave the world behind
Let go of thoughts, emotions... and try to free your mind

Come with me my goddess
Take my hand in yours
For we are one-winged angels; together we can soar

Winter Solstice

A sliver of silver-coated sustenance
Shattering the dreary midnight sky
The corrosion creeping through transmissions
Replacing fault lines with entrenched storms

A broken smile and weary eyes glancing
Scattering fragments across copper and zinc
The explosions succumbing to a demonic touch
Misplacing sunbeams to illuminate the shore

A hint of the frozen October forestry
Battering the edges of crooked constellations
The distortion seeping through transgressions
Displacing the hours with idle minute hands

A rebus wrapped around retrospection
Smattering through the contents of invisible dreams
The implosions erupting into acid-filled tears
Chasing the shadows as they crumble like sand

An amethyst avalanche rising up north
Spattering hypnotic hymns to the right and the left
The ocean carried forward by silent psalms
Pacing 'round corners while evading the sky

A lingering lullaby prying gently tonight
Nattering digits hip to black-and-white scripts
The commotion of chaos and turbulent winds
Racing past rose petals as mountaintops cry

A perplexing paradigm persisting past noon
Flattering the senses with convex sentences
The devotion toward equations equates our demise
Bracing for impact as the doors are unlocked

A novicated novice to December's delight
Chattering tongues and intertwined tempests
The motion of scars as they regress into scales
Tracing the sun with an outline of chalk

Every line in this poem is so finely crafted that each one could stand alone. Splendid alliteration.

Brushstrokes

... and I fell in love behind stormy window panes
Misused pastels in a picture-perfect scene
Colors clashed in a kaleidoscope hue
Skies of blue meshed with skewed mountain peaks

Cascading streaks form a supernova paradise
Two sets of eyes spying the evergreen everglades
Towering ancients cradling crystal-clear clouds
Chance abounds but the calm stays with thee

A sigh for impunity if just for a moment
Triumphant the moon as the days extend to eternity
Echoing its light through folds of hair
Awkward stares from crows who pass through the trees

Escaping the control of the Kings and Czars
Cyclones dispersing into a crystalline marsh
Harsh bitter breeze to incite a riot this eve
A ballet of leaves... just for you and me to see

She's with us today calling out to subdued pyres
As fireflies mingle amongst lacerated streams
White spotted owls soothe the savage beast
Emancipated at once as chains are broken free

To thee, the dreamer; a visionary afar
Through your eyes we wake upon sandy shores
A paintbrush in hand since we're one and the same
I just want it to be beautiful no longer

All your poems are so intricate, they take some time to absorb. Wonderful use of word pictures again, the mood feels quite mediaeval.

Sandman

You close your eyes at night out of boredom not necessity
'Cuz frankly everything around you seems hollow and empty
A meaningless existence yet it all means the same
Framing photographs above the mantle place
It has the same end as persistently pushing for peace
It all goes up in flames eventually

And you can't find your way through the morning fog
And you're starting to feel that it's where you belong
And you're beginning to believe in being lost
And falling through mountain caps at perilous cost

Hook, line, and sinker did you fall into the trap
As it saps your energy and leaves you feeling famished
Trying to banish ghosts and goblins with magical incantations
Induced elation becomes a fixation and a facade
It only serves to blind your eyes from prying too deep
So you go to sleep out of boredom not necessity

And you can no longer see what you can feel
And you feel deep down what never fully heals
And with devils and angels you make a deal
And you offer them your soul to break the seal

Phlebotomization becomes a way of life suddenly
You don't know how or why but it gets you high
And you soar to incredible heights because you love the free-fall
Falling through stars and clouds and earthen walls
To land upon sandy beaches consumed by the frosty sea
Only to drown out of boredom not necessity

And you never did fully realize just why
And you realize that you were always blind
And you tell yourself that you deserve to cry
And in the end, in your eyes, alone we die

But your inner song touches the hearts of fallen gods
For they too feel the renunciation of unification
And the waves lap gently upon your broken effigy
As the eager sea responds decadently to your presence
Until you realize that alone we live until the time of dissolution
And at last you can sleep not out of boredom but of necessity

Ever catch yourself dwelling on past love with a fond bitterness? Like this chaotic silent mingling of laughter and screams. You know better, but the remnants become a vast array of color in your palette, and the memory eases and satisfies the moment, however fleeting.

Sometimes I wonder if she still thinks of me...

Origin

Near the alleyways of endless broken glass labyrinths
Spying nautical nightingales fading into reality
Transgressing the method and arching over waterfalls
And she desecrates dreams of a nebulous tomorrow

But she
Never can
She
Never does
She
Never will

So give me a reason to transcend this nefarious existence
Of articulate mute-ations permeating throughout this form
As serpent's tails sweep the stars from my eyes
And she desecrates my surrender with sententious seasons

But she
Never can
She
Never does
She
Never will

Deny the divine gift of grand treason against aristocratic melodies
And harken back to a time of belligerent and venerable folly
While holding within your grasp the dawn and the dusk
And you mutilate provenience and desecrate this suffering

But you
Never can
You
Never do
You
Never will

Assassin

Sing me that new tune that you hum and you strum
Plucking the strings of your lute as you travel across everglades and cascades
Waterfalls of the purest white
Becoming waylaid and dismayed by the absence of another blazing sun

Bring to me that dream that you dream upon the autumn lit stream
Floating down corridors of stone forms as rose petals contort
Blossoming into beautiful pink
Traveling down river to quickly deliver a new sight to the swinging sunbeams

Serenade me with marmalade colored sunsets made for this day's charade
As the night comes into focus and the sun's bed is made
Upon white fluffy clouds colored with roses
Drifting upon rescinding winds and tangerine tinged horizon blades

Spin me that tale of that grand white desert land
And the hands of the faerie so delicate and berry blighted
Staining the palms as her lute strums the songs
Those songs that she dons as the dawn births a make-shift band

Show me that vision just over the horizon
The one interrupted by the mountain peaks and the sun's cheeks
Slightly overshadowed by a satellite well endowed
Glowing and ebbing and flowing like molten mercury moons

Relay to me the details of the cat tails
As they jut up from the luminous liquid
Frogs playing hop scotch on lily pads and turtle backs
A lonely doe at the river's toe that forks into ten paths

Tell me how you played seven scissor-paper-stone games
With the reflection of your silky mane as it swayed like the glades
Dancing upon the earthen surface like a newborn campfire flame
As the day closed like a chapter in same story sang this day

And lull me off to sleep as you hum the chords so sweet
To ward off the forces as the day's end exposes
A deft assassin in the darkness and with it its disciples
With a mission to slay these songs sung at the silencing of the sun

That really is the most exquisitely beautiful poem, Prototype. It paints glorious pictures that make me think of Waterhouse paintings.

Thank you. You're kind with your words.

The idea behind it was to paint a picture as you said, but it's actually somewhat of a political piece reflective of the current state we're living in and what's to come (or at least what I feel is to come). I'll leave it up to the reader to decipher what that is.

Thanks for reading. Hope all is well. If you still talk to Stiggy, tell him that I miss reading his work and that I hope he finds his path.

Yes, I do see .... paradise threatened. I shouldn't have been so literal. The poem would lend itself so beautifully to illustration. Each verse would be a whole new picture.

Yes, I miss reading his poems too, very much, but I still hope that one day, when he's ready, he'll return to post some more.
