AltNation on SiriusXM it’s broadcasting their set from bottle rock festival. There’s a free trial for the weekend and you can listen to their performance through the app.

Edit: If you’ve missed it. I believe it will be up later on.

Would be cool. I've accepted the fact that Incubus is a nostalgia band now and this fits into that frame.

So assuming they don't have anymore touring plans beyond Mid-Oct, that leaves about 4-5 weeks of studio time to record before the end of the year holiday stretch. That's about as much time as they took to record Crow, though they were working out ideas for that album while on tour. I don't think they have as many fully formed song ideas as they did during that 2003 run, but I still think they will have something out early next year. I'm thinking it will probably be more of an EP than full album, but we'll see.

I honestly doubt they'll get to recording right after the tour-run. Mike has his kids, Jose has his daughter(s?), Ben is busy with his own jams in his down-time, Brandon has his art. They always overestimate their timing haha.

But I do think they have a lot of ideas floating around. And I'm excited he's talking about Trust Fall Side B. And an anniversary version of Make Yourself, wonder what the extra's would be. Possibly the Make Yourself-night of Incubus HQ as an extra vinyl? I'd buy it.

I technically they already did that with the HQ box set, though that was a limited release.
Incubus: 7/9/09, 10/16/10, 6/25/11, 7/1/11, 7/5/11, 8/10/11, 10/8/11, 10/15/11, 4/27/12, 5/25/12, 5/26/12, 9/8/12, 9/10/12, 12/13/14, 8/28/15, 8/29/15, 8/30/15
Ben Kenney: 10/8/11, 6/19/13, 6/22/13, 6/23/13, 7/19/14
Willie's Nerve Clinic: a shit ton of times
Chris Kilmore: 9/9/12, 6/22/13, 2/12/14
Brandon Boyd: 2/12/14

Point taken. They are at a very different place than they were when they made Crow. I remember that they were supposed to get in the studio at the end of last year, but with the Vegas shooting and the SoCal wildfires that were going on...I just give them a pass on that one, I guess.

I hope this is what happens. Side B at the beginning of the year and a fall 2019 re-release of MY Night HQ vinyl. My collection feels incomplete without the HQ vinyl.

Curious to know why Incubus would go with Make Yourself of all albums to choose from

Maybe because they are on better terms with Dirk than with DJ Lyfe? Jose recently said on a Podcast that they were thinking about doing something for the 20th anniversary of science, but he did not said why they backed down. Maybe they were thinking of something for the Vegas residency they had originally planned, who knows.

As for the MY 20th anniversary. I’d love
to have a tour or some shows were they play the album in it’s entirety.

Three huge singles: Drive, Pardon Me, Stellar. Breakthrough album. Appeals to old and newer fans. Reasons enough.

They seem like bathroom break songs to me.

Just kidding, not just strictly bathroom breaks. Maybe I’ll stop by the bar for another cup of wine during Stellar if I’m feeling romantic

I mean, I know you're being facetious, but you bring up a good point. How many people going to Incubus shows have never seen them before and would be upset if they didn't play their biggest songs? I may live in a bubble, but I feel like most of the people who go have seen them a couple of times and are not going to be upset if they don't play Drive. I sure wouldn't. Festivals I can understand, but headlining?

It seems their setlist have been becoming more and more by the numbers and almost exclusively singles recently, which sucks because it makes me less excited to see them knowing they're going to play an almost identical setlist all the time.
Incubus: 7/9/09, 10/16/10, 6/25/11, 7/1/11, 7/5/11, 8/10/11, 10/8/11, 10/15/11, 4/27/12, 5/25/12, 5/26/12, 9/8/12, 9/10/12, 12/13/14, 8/28/15, 8/29/15, 8/30/15

Don't underestimate the number of casual fans at shows, who may have seen them before, but care mostly about the hits.
Yes, their setlist have become a little more predictable. Six singles are played every time: Anna Molly, Megalomaniac, Drive, Pardon Me, Wish You Were Here and Nice to know You (though that had been dropped a few times this tour). A bunch make regular appearances: Warning, Are You In, Love Hurts, Stellar.

The thing is that the surrounding non-singles have become pretty predictable since the 2015 shows. When I saw the band at Hurricane festival in 2011 they played all the singles mentioned above, except Warning. They also played Promises and Adolescents, new songs and singles at the time. What surrounded all the singles made it exciting: Under my Umbrella, Nowhere Fast, Consequence, Punch Drunk, Pistola... also more standard set songs like Circles, Kiss (but with Quicksand) and The Warmth. That kind.of depth and surprise I feel has been lacking in their sets. It's one surprising song and the rest.is fairly predictable after a show or three of the tour.

But when Incubus does a show for 5000 people nowadays, I'm pretty sure 75-80% of the people there care mostly about the hits and fan-favorite non-singles like Sick Sad Little World, Circles or Kiss. They've become a fairly nostalgia-act and probably know as much.

I wouldn’t* rage-throw my wine at the stage if incubus didn’t play drive at coachella. Hey rashida, I mean redonkulousemu, can I pm you about a keyboard we could recycle?

It's not like they ever gave a time frame for any release, so why the impatience?
