Re: News and Updates
I don't mean to be negative on this but what it concerns me now is that Mike's edm influences are slowly into Incubus or they are now.
Also, this is the first time that Incubus has a big musical guest like Skrillex on one of their albums. It is good for them to try new things like somebody said above but i don't know. It would be weird if they have some dubstep influences on their songs.

Re: News and Updates
A slight electronic flourish I could dig, I just really really detest Skrillex, and a lot of modern EDM artists. I could very much get on board with an Absolution Calling kinda vibe though!
I was listening to Trust Fall Side A recently and although the title track itself still rocks, it's just too all over the place to me now. I am keeping hope that this album will be a distillation of all the best bits and a return to form.

Re: News and Updates
Bummed to hear the Skrillex rumors confirmed. Dude is exactly what is wrong with music in 2017.
Hopefully the album is more "Trust Fall" than "Dance Like You're Dumb."

Re: News and Updates
I, too, am disappointed about Skrillex. EDM just feels so soulless to me. Push button, hear bass drop, blah. On the bright side, it sounds as if it's only one song, and who knows, maybe it'll be cool. If it's Skrillex though, I kind of doubt it.

Really liking how those photos turned out. Much better than the Trust Fall ones.

I really like that Nimble Bastard artwork at the top of the pic. Would love to see it as an official cover art.
Re: News and Updates
I don't mind Incubus tapping into some dubstep sounds, or whatever they feel like doing right now.
As funk-metal like RHCP and Primus became trendy, Incubus made Fungus Amongus.
As drum & bass was trendy and Faith No More had birthed nu-metal, Incubus made S.C.I.E.N.C.E
As pop-friendly post-grunge alternative rock was dominating the airwaves, Incubus made Make Yourself.
As nu-metal bands began to shift into a softer and more melodic sound, Incubus made Morning View.
As nu-progressive jammy rock bands like The Mars Volta became more accepted in the mainstream, Incubus made A Crow Left of the Murder.
As bands across the board began to emulate Radiohead, Incubus made Light Grenades.
As many major rock bands were in the midst of an identity crisis, Incubus made If Not Now When.
As EDM remains relevant and bands are more willing to accept and acknowledge that revisiting your old sound isn't necessarily a bad thing, Incubus made whatever album they just finished.
Where am I wrong?

Re: News and Updates
Good post, Torres. All though I don't see the band as complete trend followers myself, there is a lot of truth to it.
And it's not like the band is working with someone who is completely detached from rock music. Skrillex/Sonny was in From First To Last for years, and even though their music isn't my cup of tea, he knows rock, he knows instruments. He might not make my favorite type of music, but he isn't just a button pusher. Don't knock it till you heard it. Bring on February 16th!

Re: News and Updates
Not worried about Skrillex. Not expecting anything amazing from these guys either. If they do another Trust Fall, this new album will fade into oblivion fast.
Also if "going back to their roots" means anything before ACLOTM, then I'm excited. Otherwise, I think the guys at KROQ don't know what they're talking about.

Re: News and Updates
On this day of announcements and talk of going back to their roots, let us take a moment to reflect and remember that ACLOTM came out 13 years ago today. Happy Birthday Crow!

I hope "going back to their roots" [with the new album] means we'll get stuff similar to Crow, in terms of experimentation. I remember that, when it was about to be released, that Mike said something like "it's like our old shit, but more exploratory".
A man can dream.

You perfectly sums it up!:) I don't mind how the new Incubus album would sounds like as they've proven over the past years of releasing albums that their music continues to evolve. I am just excited and 100% sure that whatever they are going to release, we will surely enjoy!
Love and light:)

Re: News and Updates
Some more info from the incubus subreddit from a user named tarakul claiming to have heard songs in a listening session:
"Besides "Nimble Bastard," the songs are vintage Incubus and show tremendous range. There are rockers, ballads, groovers, and even a 7th song not listed in our program described as a "mustache sniffer" (Brandon's term for a song that makes you pucker your lips and nod your head to the beat. Hilarious. But accurate.)
One song was described as the "Sexiest Incubus Song Ever."
Another song was collaboration with Skrillex. The band explained it as a song they didn’t even consider. While Incubus worked on other songs, Skrillex took that one into a studio, tinkered with it, and presented it to the band. They really liked what he came up with.
The musicality on all fronts is amazing, especially Jose Pasillas' drumming, creating a pocket you can't help but groove too.
Titles of other songs we heard: Loneliest; State Of The Art; Undefeated; Familiar Faces; Glitter-Bomb
Incubus fans will love this new music and we'll get the album later this year. A summer tour is also in the works, so expect to see the band showcasing this album in a big way. It's worth the wait!"

Re: News and Updates
Ok, I got [some of] this:
Has it come to this?
We're stuck in the ____
I get it, I'm not perfect, I was never ____ ____
But I'm not ____ for this earth
If we really ____ ever get one chance
To burn!
I ____ ____ before I can see the finish
How ____ would I learn?
I wanna know! How is it you do it?
When you land on your feet, you're a nimble bastard!
And you won't skip a beat!
Such a nimble bastard!
Salt of the earth
Yeah, won't you ____, ____ us, how do you
See the stars from that far down?
I swing and I miss
And then come the creeps
It makes me want to faint!
I wanna know, how is it you do it?
How do you spill the paint
And then fit it into a frame?
When you land on your feet, you're a nimble bastard!
And you won't skip a beat!
Such a nimble bastard!
Salt of the earth
Yeah, won't you ____, ____ us, how do you
See the stars from that far down?
