Anyone been to any decent gigs recently or got any lined up? Saw Bruce Springsteen in Rome last month on the River Tour and it was amazing; he played for around 3hrs 55mins for his third-longest ever show.
I've got a few lined up - Sunset Sons, Brian Wilson playing Pet Sounds, Flaming Lips and possibly Paul Simon.

Re: The gig thread
Heading to Lowlands Festival on thursday. Main acts: Sigur Ros, Muse, LCD Soundsystem, Disclosure, Biffy Clyro.
Full line-up: www.lowlands.nl
Next tuesday I'll head to Köln (Germany) to finally see Thrice live. Beyond excited about that. Discovered the band just a week after they played their last Dutch show in 2010, and they haven't come back since their hiatus. It's going to be epic, I'm sure.

Can anyone recommend any gigs happening in Europe in October? I'm backpacking through there and would love to see a show. I'm going clockwise from Paris through Northern Germany and down through Italy.
Re: The gig thread
Soap, if you send me a tentative list of places you'll be at, I'll see if I can find some stuf that might interest you. Will you be visiting the Netherlands? If so, let me know what time you expect to be there and I'll see if some shows are happening at the time that might interest you!
Re: The gig thread
Thanks Jelger, I'll be in Amsterdam for the first four days of October or so.

Remind me to check for you after the weekend, preparing for the festival now

Brian Wilson is playing Pet Sounds on a couple of European dates. Sunset Sons are on tour then but I think it's mainly England in October which wouldn't be too helpful for you. Paul Simon's on tour then too.

Have fun at Nick Cave. I'm so gutted I missed him when he was here a couple of months ago. In the same week, Nick Cave, Dinosaur Jr., and PJ Harvey were all playing the same city. And I just had to go and start a new job...
But the consolation is that I'm seeing The Darkness next month. That will be fun.

Went to see Anderson .Paak last night. Possibly the best gig I've ever seen - he brought out Syd and The Internet during the encore, which was a nice little Incubus connection, but it was just a fantastic gig. He's a real showman - spent half the time on the drums and half the time as a frontman.

Re: The gig thread
Oh yeah he's awesome live! Saw him last year.
Saw Mos Def (or Yasiin Bey as he prefers to be called these days) do his last ever show in Amsterdam on Tuesday. Was really strange, the straight up hip-hop parts worked really well, but in between he had a lot of out of the box world music and jazz. And I don't think most people were there for that. Bit too experimental.
Also bought tickets for Portugal. The Man on May 25th. That should be cool.

Yeah, Anderson's band was insanely good, too. Amazing how they can go from hip hop one minute to straight up rock the next and make it feel completely natural.

Went to see LCD Soundsystem Friday night. Utterly incredible gig - I don't think I'll ever see a better encore than Losing my Edge, Dance Yrself Clean and All My Friends.
