Well I guess he was a lot more involved than we thought. This was posted a couple days ago, really surprised no had said anything about it. It's around the 8 minute mark.

Is this the official artwork/cover ?

I remember reading somewhere that Brandon describe the cover as 'black, a simple incubus logo and a number 8'

Well, that's a bit underwhelming. Hopefully it's not the final cover.

I wouldn't be that much surprised. This cover goes well with the title...
It reminds me the cover of Deftones' B Sides and Rarities https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... -sides.jpg

Nice in depth interview with a lot of talk about the album. Includes a lot of talk about Skrillex and some mention about the songs.

https://audioboom.com/posts/5696139-089 ... tled-eight

So, confirmed are:
11 tracks
Includes interludes?

Names:
Nimble Bastard (duh)
Familiar Faces (With Skrillex)
State of the Art (Chorus lyrics so far: "Look at you, you are falling apart, built to spill, you're state of the art. Look at you, look at you now")
Loneliest ("Sexiest Incubus song ever written")

Brandon and Mike were on Matt Pinfield's podcast and discussed Skrillex's involvement in good detail. I haven't caught many of the interviews lately but Mike talked about how Sonny has always been a fan of the band and understood them at a fundamental level and didn't want to mess with that. In addition, he was very inclusive and wanted to make sure everyone was involved in the process and trying to bring out the best of each along the way.

I can certainly see the apprehension of the partnership, but the way it was expressed and detailed, they most certainly deserve the benefit of the doubt. In addition, NB sounds like a fun rock song, not an EDM song.

I really want to be excited about this album, but its really tough.

The single is good. The mix is pretty bad, but I think what we hear on record will likely be totally different than what we've been shown. The music comes first always and I still am very excited to hear the music.

But I'm very into album packaging. And this is easily their worst record cover of their career. This just feels soooooo lazy.

That 8 will definitely be the album cover.

Seriously, what happened to this band? When they were with Sony they had a better promo for their albums. It seems like they are just going with the flow since they signed with Island.

I mean, who really cares as long as the music is good? Outside of ACLOTM and Light Grenades, none of their album covers have really been spectacular or that creative. They chose a straightforward album title and album cover because it sounds like they really are focused on the underlying product, the music. And by the tone of their interviews over the last several weeks, they are truly excited and proud of what they've created. I won't be bitching about anything until we hear the music. It also sounds like they were burnt out by Sony and Island is allowing them to do what they want on their own terms, which is helpful for an aging band in terms of longeitivity and how long they really want to keep doing this.

It is also not that different from Pearl Jam's "Vitalogy" cover which is one of their stronger albums.

There's many bad album covers for great albums. But yeah, this feels a bit too much like a place holder. Oh well, waiting on the music. That podcast with Matt Pinfield was really good. I asked him if we can listen to the INNW-special somewhere, he responded that he will ask his producers to dig it up. Would be really cool.

Obviously its way more about the music. But I can't lie, I would be disappointed if the album cover is black and just has incubus 8 written on it. Specially when Brandon's and Jose artwork is so good. Even just using something he's painted at his house would be better than just text!? Also don't really want to see a photo of the band on the cover either.

Looking back at the covers, imagine if they came out with something like the make yourself cover now, would definitely get a mixed reaction.

Confirmed on the album cover- they're Twitter pic and background art have switched to the black art work. I'm sure their other socials will follow (if they haven't already).

I don't mind the cover too much but it is very bland - it reminds me more of one of those generic Greatest Hits albums that a label will release with absolutely no input from a band. Then again, having said that, Incubus' version of that (Essential Incubus) was a decent cover.

Confirmation that Skrillex did the mix of the entire album. According to Brandon, he brought more rock than electronic stuff to the production...

Was "Nimble Bastard" remixed? I wasn't under the impression that Skrillex was involved with the version released as a single. It could really use a remix anyhow.

I wouldn't rule it out. It could do with a re-mixing.

Looks like "Nimble Bastard" will indeed be getting a new mix. It will apparently be released along with "Glitter Bomb" in the pre-order bundle and on Spotify.
