nimble bastard is fun but only has me returning for more listens because it's new incubus. the song structure and incubus flair is either missing, hasn't digested yet, or needs the rest of the album beside it for contrast. when 311 released their first single "five of everything" off of stereolithic, that single had me saying meh, but when the album dropped and digested, with every song on that album great(minus showdown imo), five of everything clicked with the contrast of the other tracks. maybe nimble bastard is just an misunderstood jingle at the moment.

some thoughts on the album title, 8 could represent the infinity symbol. also when thinking about "how do you see the stars from that far down", i immediately thought of here comes everyone with "we're all in the gutter, but some of us, are looking at the stars"

Wait, really? I didn't get an email... hope it's just late to arrive.
I have to be leaving, but I won't let that come between us.

Has anyone else noticed that the general consensus among fans has been positive on social media? Don't really see too much massive hate, unlike what you see going on with Linkin Park right now. Maybe this album will be a little bit of a revival for them.

After a week of listening to Nimble Bastard i gotta say that it is a solid song. Not a strong single like Pardon Me or Megalomaniac but still good. Nimble Bastard will definitely be a fun song when they play it live like a lot of you have said.

Have you guys heard Kil's effect on this song? i barely hear Ben and not so sure if Kil is somewhere.

Looking forward for the rest of the album.

It's really hard to tell if it's not there or it's too hard to hear. See my above complaints about the mastering of the track

Could the skrillex colab be an instrumental track with Kilmore? Battlestar style.

I think this might be the best outcome for that collab. I wouldn't want Skrillex on a "normal" Incubus song.

Mein Gott, is Nickelback still relevant on the US!? What year is this? 2001?

Hmm, I can see how Skrillex slow beats would work on a song similar in style to Make Out Party (but with better lyrics hopefully). But a full fledged Incubus-song... It's a lot harder to imagine than an instrumental track, for me.

I remain optimistic about this collaboration, I think it will be a good song in fact. We will find out in a couple months!

I've got a feeling about what the new album is going to sound like.
I was at work today with the radio on and NB came on (it's getting some radio play here in New Zealand by the way) and I found myself dancing to it, white boy style. It's got a great beat and is very easy to move to.
What I'd like to hear from the band is an Incubus flavoured dance rock record. There were a number of NZ bands in the late 90's/early 00's (Shihad, The Feelers, Tadpole if anyone is interested) that did great dance rock and I always wished there were more bands that explored that sound more. Based on what NB and half of Trust Fall sounded like I don't think it's too silly to expect it from the boys this time around.

Dance rock? I'm not familiar with this- I second your recommendation of Shihad though. They're great, but I don't know if I'd ever call them dance rock.

The General Electric is totally dance rock. Wait and See and Sport and Religion have great grooves. I guess it's my term for rock bands that were influenced by big beat artists like The Prodigy, and were active around the time that a lot of people were claiming rock was dead and electronic music was the future.
Seeing that EDM is the flavour right now, I think Incubus will be trying to tap into the vibe of it in their own way.

Good point. All three of those songs have some pre-EDM like elements to them.
