The falling out with Ren continues to rear its head.

Since Ren was canned, Incubus can't strategize properly and can't capitalize off momentum (as small as it is).

Everyone gets stoked for a new song, band promotes on the gram, then BAM, crickets.

Thing is, there was potential there to make a run again - as others pointed out. Incubus just can't figure out how to do it on their own and especially now that Ren is gone.

I’m holding out that maybe we are going to get more out of it like a small EP. I’d even be fine if they are waiting to release it on a full length album and we don’t get it until next year. But If neither of those are the case then it makes no sense.

Going all the way back to the Trust Fall era, it seems anytime they have had some momentum on the release of new music, the proverbial ball gets dropped somewhere along the way. The current state of rock music has been in a state of flatline for a minute now and Incubus could easily be the band that brings it back and they don’t seem to give a shit. Come on, Imagine Dragons? Panic at the Disco? This is what passes as “good” alt rock music? “Into The Summer” isn’t that great of a song but it’s still better than most crap passing off as rock music. I’d like to see Incubus make a late career Hail Mary catch back to the upper echelon one more time, where they belong, and they just don’t seem to give a fuck and are quickly on their way to a nostalgia act. And that totally bums me out.

Agreed, wish they would try a little harder, but we are just fans , who knows what they are thinking behind the scenes, we have to believe they are trying and making decisions they feel are best , including parting ways with REN, who gets a lot of credit here and rightfully so for listening to us fans, but then again how do we really know Ren being there would make the band give us more info and stick to dates and deadlines better, maybe the band got tired of Rens style and would not exist had they not parted ways , we don’t know the whole story

I don't think it is terrible at all. I think I like it better than most of 8, it's something different.

I stand by my previous thoughts on the only interesting bit for me being the middle part for me personally. The song is not good enough to justify the seemingly endless wait unless it's the lead off for an album.

What's sad to me is how spread out all the people are in the front of the stage. I don't even want to know how few people were behind the guy filming. Maybe attendance would be a little better if they had a properly promoted and released single.

The person who filmed it said it looks so empty because it was all-seated, so it's more spaced out, and he/she was sitting next to the aisle. The show was sold out, 3000 capacity, so that's not the issue.

That latest recording of the song has a lot more going on than the original version we had, or it's a slightly better recording... Either way, I still love the 80s pop and funk vibe going on here... Seems really fun live.
I have to be leaving, but I won't let that come between us.

I'm just putting this down to the boys holding out closer to the actual tour starting for releasing this song...thats the only thing that makes sense. Or just giving us a small EP all at once...

So, according to a Reddit user and the description of a Youtube video of the concert in Buffalo, Brandon said they wrote Into The Summer 6-7 days ago.

This is just getting fucking bizzare.

Maybe they have been rewriting/ tooling with the song ? I haven’t seen any of the live videos I’m holding out for an official release. But blind melon says the latest has more going on.. maybe that’s explaining the delay?

Yeah, I listened to all the live recordings so far, and the one in Buffalo had some extra touches, especially guitar. Even a little more than the other shows this week.

You remember the band covering and including INX's 'need you tonight' in their setlist during their 8 tour? This is their own version of it. No doubt, this song was inspired by that. Other songs of the band that I believe were inspired by songs they covered during their tour: Anna molly( inspired by The Police's de do do do) and Here in my room (Massive attack's teardrop)

Even if they have tweaked the song, that's still a very odd thing for Brandon to say. Especially knowing there is live video of them performing the song from more than a month ago.

It's also possible the people in the crowd misheard him, or Brandon misspoke.
