Into The Summer - Song Discussion

Postby Jelger » Fri May 10, 2019 2:33 am

Now that we have a full video: https://youtu.be/ovoRFhsswmQ, let's move the discussion to a seperate topic.

Any one else getting Vitamin-vibes from that guitar sound Mike has leading into the bridge?

That studio snippet, though hard to hear, gives me a Panic at the Disco-vibe.

I really like the song. I especially like the bridge and its multiple modulations.

I can't say I'm a big fan of it apart from the bridge and the build up after the bridge, that's some good shit. The rest of it just falls flat for me. There's a nice funky bassline and some nifty guitar work going on however. I'll most likely file this one with DLYD in the wild card category, but props for them for giving a totally different style a whirl!

Funny, I think the bridge (except maybe that throwback Vitamin-guitar sound) is my least favorite part of the song from what I've heard so far.

Really getting anxious for this thing to drop. Sometime between now and Wednesday, I assume.

Here's what I can make out, lyrics wise.

I shouldn't have let you go
Into the summer alone
Pretty and built to stay
???
???
Over the ashes, a rose
This somehow's meant to stay
Don't leave me here on my own

I remember the way that it was
It's been calling out to me forever
But I shouldn't have let you go
Oh, into the summer alone
Oh, into the summer alone

Love's like a coiled vine
It breaks through the cracks in my wall
The fruits of it wait still
Until you stepped over the line

I remember the way that it was
It's been calling out to me forever
But I shouldn't have let you go
Oh, into the summer alone
I remember the way that it was
It's been calling out to me forever
I remember it ended because I was blind

I shouldn't have let you go
Into the summer alone
I shouldn't have let you go
Into the summer alone
I shouldn't have let you go
Into the summer alone

Into the summer alone

I remember the way that it was
It's been calling out to me forever
But I shouldn't have let you go
Oh, into the summer alone
I remember the way that it was
It's been calling out to me forever
I remember it ended because
I was blind

For those 2 missing lines in the first verse I hear:

Cup runneth to overflow
Letting my missile go

I thought for sure they’d release it today. First day of summer, Mike’s B-day, playing Colbert on Wednesday. Timing seemed perfect. And the wait continues.....

Yeah big missed opportunity there, especially since they've been making it sound for weeks like the release is imminent. I'll always be a fan of this band's music but they make it hard to get excited about things like this...we get an initial live video and then nothing but teasing since...

I'm not sure that's their fault though... I mean, for one, they look really busy right now, and for two, it's probably not their call, based on who their label is, right? They had Ren to take care of all of that before and actuallyffollow through with the teasing, so whoever their new manager is is lacking in that department...
I have to be leaving, but I won't let that come between us.

They are without a label at the moment. Not without management, I think Joe Lilak still runs the show in that departement. But yeah, Rennie might have overstayed his welcome with the band, he was a manager that got a lot of shit done.
