Just imagine that bridge of Glitterbomb extended into a full on crazy jam with kickass solos.

And who knows what other surprises the other songs will bring?

Pretty relieved every time I see Einziger or Boyd indicate A) we're not making another science and B) we don't give a shit about "prog". Good god, prog rock? What year is it?

I think what they mean by that is that besides Science, they also don't want us pining for another Crow era either, which brought us The Odyssey. Seems that Mike feels more fulfilled writing and performing a 3-4 minute song that 10,000+ people in a crowd would react to than putting out obscure and adventurous material that only a small portion of the fanbase may truly appreciate.

Basically, I think Mike actually enjoys watching how the majority of people at shows go completely apeshit over "Love Hurts" more than the few of us who rejoice during the very rare occasions that a song like "Pendulous Threads" gets performed.

Man I've been to like 20 Incubus shows and Pendulous is the only song I haven't seen yet that I would give anything for.

As much as I, as a fan, would love to see them do a "prog rock epic", I totally understand the band in this regard.

As a performer on stage it is much more rewarding to play the crowd's favourite and see them have a good time. I used to play in a theater group and, while I personally am very much into artsy, intellectual stuff and write those kind of plays, it was way more fun just playing laugh-out-loud comedies.
I think that they could still explore that side of their music on one-off EP or something like that but they barely have the time to make an album.

Brandon and Jose Q & A from their stop in Berlin. It also includes a brief, but fair, critique of the overall album

Based on what I've heard, that seems like an accurate critique of the album.

Someone on here, I forgot who, said that he/she would be fine with this being their album like Pearl Jam's self-titled. Rock songs, plain and simple, but with a re-energized vibe. And if that's it, I'm cool with it too.

I might be the only one in here, but i would looooove to see them do a few Warped Tour shows in the US. I always have a blast at Warped Tour regardless of the lineup.

If Incubus was limited to a 6 song, 30 minute set, they'd probably play mostly fast-paced hard rocking songs and avoid any softer slower tunes.

As long as they included Aqueous or Digital Forest I'd be down for that!

Another new interview with Mike: https://chorus.fm/interviews/mike-einzi ... -the-band/

Also, glad to finally see Trust Fall (Side B) being addressed!

Originally I think the idea was to do Trust Fall (Side B), which then ended up evolving into 8. What was it like figuring out what you wanted to do on this album, shelving that second EP approach and expanding it out into a full-length?

It wasn’t so much shelving the EP approach. We started writing and realized we had more than an EP’s worth of material that we wanted to pursue and release. Also, having put out the EP, we really realized our audience doesn’t want an EP. They want an album [laughs].

When we released the EP, we were in experimental mode. Things are a little different now. People are consuming music differently than the last time we put out an album. Let’s see what happens when we put a few songs together and see how people react to it.

It was a very mixed bag. Even aside to whatever people thought of the music, the fact that we put out an EP and then went on the road and played shows, it was really obvious that our audience wants albums. That’s cool. That’s totally fine. We were just testing the waters with that, so it all worked out well.

Probably Australia, New Zealand and some others in Asia at the beginning of 2018? Bands usually tour that region in January-March

Yeah I expect that too. I really fear Europe will get another festival tour with maybe a handful of headline shows...

I hope we won't have to wait another 14 months to get to see them in Europe, even for festivals.
