I was also able to listen to the snippets.

This definitely reminds of the first time I listened to Crow (which is my favorite album from the band, by the way). I thought it was really unexpected and weird. I didn't know what to make of it. Honestly, Incubus have always surprised me with their ability to do something different with every album they put out. Even if I like the result or not, it's some that I'll never stop admiring.

All I can say is that the album doesn't feel as dark as some of you are saying — for me, it sounds quite upbeat, actually. Mike wasn't wrong when he said Nimble Bastard was representative of the energy of the whole thing. Anyway, April 21st can't come soon enough! I can't wait to hear 8 in its entirety and fully form an opinion on the new songs.

P. S. Make No Sound in the Digital Forest and Throw It Out of the Map are the ones I'm anticipating the most.

Okay, by the snippets, it seems like this will be a pretty solid album. I'm pumped.

The only one I can't quite wrap my head around is "When I Became a Man". I'll have to hear it in full context, because right now I'm just...yeah. LOL!!

Other thoughts..

"Loneliest", "Love in A Time of Surveillance", "Make No Sound in the Digital Forest" and "Throw Out The Map" are the standouts of the new snippets, imo. "Glitterbomb" is still my favorite out of everything I've heard up to this point, but that might change once I hear everything in full length.

Also, Mike posted earlier that "something exciting is coming today". Wonder what it could be?

I'm digging 8-Era Incubus so far!!!

listening to the previews now.

I'm pleased they made a new mix for NB, but that kick drum sounds so weird. I wonder why they released it and then drastically changed it within a month? all the rest of the songs have potential, so I'm pleasantly surprised. i really liked INNW, and trust fall seemed forced, and too direct, i was worried about their direction, so I'm glad they seem to have got some emotion back in these tracks.

So now i only want to complain about the kickdrum and the album cover.

Just listened to the snippets. Wow.

As a Crow and SCIENCE fanatic, I love the weird experimentation they have going on in these tracks. I can't really say whether it sounds like a dark or an upbeat album. Seems 50/50 to me.

*SNIPPET SPOILERS*

No Fun sounds like a great way to start off the album. Lots of energy and a punchy, catchy, chorus. This is the song from the clip Skrillex posted on Instagram about a week back.

Love in a Time of Surveillance is sludgy and slow. I'm really digging this one. Reminds me of Alice In Chains a lot.

Make No Sound in the digital forest appears to be instrumental, or at least for the most part. Sounds like something they could jam and extend for 10 mins live.

Throw Out The Map is the one I'm most looking forward to. That breakdown/guitar work at the beginning of the snippet hits so damn hard. I haven't heard that tone from Mikey since Make Yourself. Kil has a siren-like sound during the breakdown that is killer.

Familiar Faces has a similar tempo to say, Agoraphobia or Diamonds and Coal. Lots of interesting drumming on this.

I'm really excited for this record. Incubus is back folks

Wow. After those snippets, I'm convinced this will be the band's most "left-field" record. So many strange sounds here. Excited to hear the whole record.

To snippet, or not to snippet *SIGH* I think I'll refrain after unsuccessfully trying to get them to play here in the US. Don't want to get in my head what I think the song will be like before I hear the whole thing. If I heard only the first 30 seconds of "The Original" and you asked me what I thought of it, I would say it was going to be amazing. And it turned out to be far from that (at least to me).
