But this isn't that, this sounds worse than a demo. It just sounds like someone who had no clue what they were doing mixed and mastered it.
I'd have to disagree with that, being someone who does record music and has audio engineer friends, it's not AS
bad as you say, but I see where you're coming from. I think part of the problem is Brandon's voice has changed now that he's older, and I feel like we still try to compare it to his youthful days, even if just subconsciously. So no matter how they record it, it just sounds off. I feel like that might be the case, at least for me, because the music itself sounds fine for rock, it's just been the sound of his voice these past couple recordings that have bothered me. It just sounds boxy or distorted, and not open like past albums, which could be because of changes in his voice.
I do agree about the Bowl being a terrible place to see them, or really any show. Tickets are always way more expensive for comparable seats at other venues, parking sucks, sound sucks, semi decent seats cost a fortune and are near impossible to get anyways, and no pit. Even though that venue is the closest one to me, I'll be seeing them in Chula Vista/SD and making the pilgrimage to Red Rocks this year. Center, row 31! If there's still tickets left closer to, and I'm feeling it after the album drop, I'll get some cheap Bowl tickets.
