One of the heavier albums? Best to be cautious with believing stuff like that, but I hope the album is similar in energy levels like Trust Fall (the song).

Can't wait to hear it, but I also noticed that every band releasing an album always says stuffs like 'our best album so far', 'we're coming back to our roots', 'the maturity album', etc.

Always scared of the final result.

BTW, as long as the album cover is better than Trust Fall, I'll be happy.

He's been doing that for as long as I could remember (praising the album they're currently working on). And he says this stuff always long before it gets released.

I know we are all smart enough to see through the chatter, BUT

There's new music in the works. Hooray!

Hopefully it's a lot like Trust Fall. The song.

It's funny because a "Better Than Anything We’ve Done In A Long Time" could just mean since Light Grenades... that album came out in what, 06? It's 10 years old! It's nice to hear they're having fun, so that should shut up all you Negative Nancies out there, haha. And yes, he has been saying these words with each album, but I guess how can you not be digging your current work? It's where they are right now. Either way, I am pretty damn excited.
I have to be leaving, but I won't let that come between us.

Also this:
Brinden Boyd wrote:It’s fun to bring these core ideas Mike and I come up with to such talented musicians and then have them listen to them, critique them, point out what they like, what they don’t like and then put all our heads together at that point and take it through a blender. It turns out usually completely differently than you imagine.

Hmm, guess it would only be natural for them to follow up their sofest album with their heaviest album :lol

At one point before LG was released they also said that Dig was the heaviest song they'd ever written...

Granted, they later admitted that it went through many many style changes so they could have been telling the truth but I've always taken that sort of thing with a grain of salt ever since.

As everyone should. Every (bigger) band knows exactly what they should say to hype up fans. Until I heard some music, I won't believe it's their heaviest or one of

"Heaviest" or "Hardest"? There is a big difference between the two.

Indeed, heaviest. "By far" said Mike.

It was from the first of the 3 Podcasts that Rennie put together in '06. I can't believe these links still work from when I posted them to JMR back in 2009 but here's all 3:

Mike's comment is just after the 19 minute mark of Podcast #1.

Podcast #1: http://www.mediafire.com/?boda0jjyjny

Podcast #2: http://www.mediafire.com/?wkj2w4mzyzn

Podcast #3: http://www.mediafire.com/?htvdw1eyqej

I don't know how these haven't made their way to YouTube in the past 10 years but they've always been great listens, especially Part 3 which is Brandon & Mike walking through Light Grenades song by song a few days before it was realeased. Good stuff.

I wonder when Brandon did that Led Zeppelin-cover. Haven't seen heard that anywhere before. And here I was thinking I had almost anything they've done.

Regarding that article - This has me excited in a way that's a bit different than the past few album speculation cycles we've gone through, pretty much since LG. Particularly, the quote from that article - "And interestingly, it’s turning out to be one of the heavier records we have ever written together, as far as sonically and riffs and the arrangements. There’s this big, full circle, in a way. It’s just been really, really fun."

The "full circle" part I feel is a reference to pre-LG, maybe not as far back as the real high school sonic roots with SCIENCE or MY, but back. I just feel like there is some acknowledgement (moreso than usual) to how their current sound compares to their older records.

He also says that its one of the heavier records "together", meaning with Ben, so I'd love to hear something that is...a heavier Crows, sonically? Not sure, but its intriguing.

Haven't been on here in a while, saw they've been active on social again so I jumped on. Glad to see the activity!
