It might be better than LG, and at minimum is closer to LG than SCIENCE.

I'm sure a lot of people will disagree when it comes to S.C.I.E.N.C.E., but I absolutely agree with this. Maybe because 'Pardon Me' was the first song I heard (late '99) and I didn't know about Incubus during the S.C.I.E.N.C.E era. I think it has some great songs on it, but I just don't hold it that high regard.

Very cool, I too came on board in '99. My friend burned a cd for me (lol) with The Warmth on it and the rest is history. Could definitely explain my feelings towards SCIENCE.

EDIT - shit actually may have been 2000, but my point stands

Jelger wrote:And I agree, Graham, that 8 is not a mind-blowing effort. I do like it quite a bit, and I really like the live videos I've seen of a bunch of songs, but I think Skrillex is not to blame, and ever since the album came out I think he is just an easy target. Just like Ben was/is for people who were/are disappointed with the direction the band has taken since Morning View.

Funny thing is I hate it when people get on Ben's back and always have done. I am a bass player and Dirk is more of a bassist's bass player but they are both incredible. I'm not sure why I resent the Skrillex thing so much, I think the production is sanitised and soulless. Which is him. I also disliked the focus on him in early interviews from Mike and how uncomfortable the others looked. Felt like an invasion to the gang, which au accept is an immature thing to think.

But if he mixed Crow I would probably still think that was one of the best albums ever made - I think the songs just aren't as good and there's no Incubus wow factor which I actually think INNW did have a fair bit of.

Just wanted to bring some attention to the intro of A Kiss To Send Us Off during a live show in Brazil in 2013: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITJ9zOfpwXY&t=4156s#

That stop right before the heavy part, that's delicious.

This is my new favorite Incubus performance:

So far, this is the only footage of the band playing Crowded Elevator with Dirk Lance. According to setlist.fm, this was the second performance of Crowded Elevator and it sounds a little bit different than the final version.

Rare Dirk finds should be a contest on this board.

I can't believe they've officially released this. It's like a "bloopers" making of Nimble Bastards with bad takes.

It's like hearing a completely different person from the When Incubus Attacks vol 1 EP.

Never thought Brandon would fall this bad, he was always flawless.

I get the feeling the vocal take was one of the many Dave Sardy made him do. Maybe the track was a late-in-the-day "fuck it let's try it" kind of deal.
I personally like it, obviously Brandon's vocals are rough in spots but he shines in a other places. The hero of the track is Mike's guitar work, it's got a real swing to it. He's bringing back the feel of the Fungus days which is why 8 sounds so fun.

Even if his voice is a little rough on this, it kind of works. And regardless, it doesn't matter to me because he sounded incredible live when I saw him last month, so I don't think he's lost it or anything... if anything, I feel like he's found "it" again.
I have to be leaving, but I won't let that come between us.

This dude uploaded Vitamin and Certain Shade of Green from Dynamo Open Air in 1998, plus an interview with Brandon. For the old-school fans.

It's such a trip to see all these old vids. Great find!

Oh and I have to say, the new version of Circles is so sick!! I love how they're changing up the old songs.

Not sure how often they've been doing it but I remember the ending of Echo at Red Rocks was totally different and super heavy, I loved it. Seems like they're still having fun which is great.

No Fun live tonight in Bangkok. I think the song lacks something, but live it has amazing energy.
