It looks like Incubus made another 25 Best Rock Songs of 2017 List.

This time, it's Billboard.

https://www.billboard.com/articles/events/year-in-music-2017/8071126/best-rock-songs-2017-top-25

I know the #1 Pick is gonna cause some controversy. I wouldn't necessarily put it on a rock list like this, but, it's a good song, though.

I wonder if they will release a music video. What happen for almost entire year only nimble bastard. I hope Glitterbomb or Loneliest will be next in line.

It hurts how they really only threw one single out with a proper video this time.

Maybe it's the model in this day and age, especially with the lyric videos being released and whatnot. I used to pine for the times where there would be multiple actual single releases, with B-sides and remixes etc...now I am literally just wanting music videos or actual singles to drop on iTunes/Spotify. Of course it doesn't help with half an album being released before albums even drop these days.

I know plenty of bands on smaller labels who still put out 3-4 music videos for their albums. It's a little frustrating that Incubus only put out a video for Nimble Bastard. Lyric videos should not replace music videos.

Agreed. I'm not a fan of lyric videos. Music videos have always been a creative art outlet with amazing depth. Lyric videos cheapen this, but i guess it saves money and younger audiences probably done care sadly

I guess it's just the way things are going these days. Music is such an easily stolen disposable product nowadays, so why pump the money in for a video or record extra b sides for a single.

I really really miss it!

I wonder how or when we will see that chino track

Also curious how many tracks were recorded during those sessions. If I remember correctly that was after all of 8 was recorded

Still haven't heard Nimble Bastard acoustic version from Japan. It's an album track.....why is it so hard to find?

Edit:

Ok it took me 3 seconds to find it on YouTube finally...

I like how this version sounds darker than the original. Vocals are a bit rough, but I think that adds a bit of personality to the song.

I wonder why it comes almost a year after the first video for the album. Probably because of the tour, but why leave such a long gap? Sometimes I wonder what the plan is behind all what Incubus does.

Also: when is the band going to announce some EU shows? I expected them to be announced for the first few festivals by now, but maybe they are doing the late festival season in late july/august? Or it's going to take them even longer and they'll do headline shows in the fall. Any way, it's taking a long time!

I don't understand either. This 2018 tour is a complete nonsense.
Guess we'll just have some shitty festival shows, as usual.

I really don't understand their strategy.

It is kind of weird they haven't announced any European dates yet. And lot of festivals that Incubus has been apart of in the past have already announced their lineups (unless they are being added in a second wave of announcements). The only one I don't think has been announced is Reading/Leeds and Lowlands. Maybe some logistics are still being worked out. Strange.

That's why my guess is that they might do the late festival-season in Europe. Lowlands, Reading/Leeds... They are all in August. Pukkelpop in Belgium too. Thing is: I'd rather wait two more months to see a headline show, but I fear we'll get festivals with maybe two or three headline shows (UK/Southern Europe/Maybe Germany).

Yeah, but that leaves two and a half to three months in between the just announced US Bottlerock 2018 festival in May and these festivals in August. I don't see them letting 3 months go by (during prime touring season) with no dates, solo or festival. Either they are plotting solo shows in Europe before August festivals or they'll be late additions to the already announced June/July festival circuit.

I'm sure it will all come together over the next few weeks.

Yes Loneliest!
Already saw the video looks great. Such an epic and artistry by Mr. Boyd. Just a litle lack of something I dont know, but it looks good definetly.

Maybe more participation of the bandmates.

Just like courage and control and Lady in black.

No one knows what the thought process behind incubus is anymore haha. Really feels like they don't take the band as seriously as they used to, and they aren't as innovative or experimental anymore. The Trust Fall Side A/B project was a cluster fuck. What ever happened to the SCIENCE guitar tutorials Mike had set to do? He did like 2 or 3 songs and abandoned the project. The 2017 tour had them playing the same hits they always play. Do they really need to play every album single every show? Their setlists are wayyy too predictable. I can only imagine the festival setlists are even safer. I don't know, maybe the 2017 setlists would have felt refreshing to me if I actually enjoyed 8 since they played a handful of songs from that album. Instead, those songs felt bland. Much better live, but still bland. Also, I know the band dislikes their older material but can't they at least play ONE song off SCIENCE or FA for their diehards? I get the notion that they want to do whatever they naturally feel like doing, but can't they give their fans SOMETHING? They talk about how they don't like the writing off those records but I'm sure that era is still memorable for them. Maybe the majority of people who go to their shows nowadays aren't too familiar with that type of Inucbus...I don't know. It is what it is. I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed haha. I fucking love Incubus and I know they could be doing more.
