Re: The gig thread

Went to Lovebox last weekend. Big Boi from Outkast and NERD were good fun. Childish Gambino headlined and was incredible - seen him once before, but this topped that. His switch to singing means his live band have become even more well utilised, they did a version of Riot that was insanely good. As ...

Re: Incubus' 7th Album, 'If Not Now, When?' Turns 7(Warning: Long Post)

I think I remember reading it was the first ever record they wrote as they recorded. It kind of showed in how similar in nature every song was.

Re: 2017-2018 Setlists [Spoilers]

You're not living in London or close to it, right? Otherwise I'd say try to get a ticket! I'm seeing them three times, expecting at least twice the same set. I've set the bar low. Besides songs from 8 I'm hoping to see three or so songs I havent seen live before. Warning being the most likely candi...

Re: 2017-2018 Setlists [Spoilers]

I got night one of London because I didn't expect it to go for a second night. Anticipating hits, to be honest - they usually have hits first night, rarities second night when they've done double headers in the UK, will be a shame to miss out on anything good on the second night.

Re: News and Updates

I mean, I know you're being facetious, but you bring up a good point. How many people going to Incubus shows have never seen them before and would be upset if they didn't play their biggest songs? I may live in a bubble, but I feel like most of the people who go have seen them a couple of times and...

Re: News and Updates

Got London tickets today - might have a look at the M&G packages but just been on holiday to Porto so can't afford much more than the near £100 for two tickets it came to. Got some free flights in Europe to use at some point so might look at doing a gig abroad, too.

Re: News and Updates

Going to be furious if there's not a standalone London date. Sod paying £100 or whatever it is for a 30-minute festival slot.

Re: The gig thread

Went to see LCD Soundsystem Friday night. Utterly incredible gig - I don't think I'll ever see a better encore than Losing my Edge, Dance Yrself Clean and All My Friends.

Fleet Foxes

Anyone else listened to Crack-Up yet? I can see why some haven't really taken to it but I genuinely think it's the best thing they've done.

Re: News and Updates

In other news I went to a bar in the UK on Saturday night and they were playing Morning View in full over the sound system. It was rather unexpected.

Re: Brandon's voice

Brandon said Sardy pushed his voice to the limits on 8, maybe it's still recovering from that? Let's not forget the benefit show, Kimmel and Conan were ages apart from each other, then Weenie Roast was shortly after Conan and he sounded infinitely better - he probably just needs a little time to war...

25th in the midweek UK charts, which isn't actually that bad considering how stale our charts are.

Re: '8' - Album discussion

Undefeated is kinda growing on me. What is this? I still think it's a pretty weak track, but I don't hate it anymore. It escaped from the pack of truly awful Incubus-songs. I said on first listen to 8 that it actually works a lot better in the context of an album. The chorus, while pretty bland in ...

Re: The future of Incubus

It's genuinely impossible to say at this point, I'd say. I was convinced after seeing them in the summer of 2012 that they would record a really high-energy album imminently as they all seemed a lot more relaxed, loud and on form than the 2022 European tour. Yet it took two years for Trust Fall Side...

Re: '8' - Album discussion

I'm still not sure how I rate this album. I like it a lot, but I think it only tops INNW and Fungus for me. I really get what the reviewer is saying when he says this disc doesn't have the same personality like their other work. I do see that point. Every other album, even INNW, has had a feel to i...
