Re: Morning View turns 17 today!!

This album is the benchmark in terms of sound I think. You can really tell the band wrote it by jamming together in a big house. It's glossy but still sounds organic as fuck.

Re: The Beginnings: How you got into Incubus

What a beautiful post, and replies! I've enjoyed reading all of them. You've struck a lot of the same threads as me in this long twisted relationship with the band. I marvel at how similar some of your experiences are to mine. It reinforces the fact that no matter where you're from, people aren't al...

Re: nope, cant do it - worst song

Promises, Promises is a track that I absolutely love. I'd put it in the top half of my favourite songs from the band. It is obviously a strictly Boyd/Einziger joint; the rest of the band is very much in the supporting role, which to me is the biggest flaw of the album as a whole, but serves this tra...

Re: 2017 Setlists [Spoilers]

Went to the Auckland show, and I was kind of disappointed with the setlist. Pantomime and Paper Shoes were good to see (especially Paper Shoes, it sounds much meatier live) but there weren't really any surprises. It was very succinct; not much crowd interaction. However, they were tight as fuck. Eve...

Is there a clip of the INXS snippet? That would be so cool to hear!

Re: 14th Anniversary of A Crow Left of the Murder

The record came at a time when I'd got into Incubus watching Drive and Pardon Me on MTV2, I received Morning View as a Christmas gift in 2002 and I loved it so much. Crow was the first time I got to get excited for a forthcoming Incubus record, the activity at the time, alongside the Halo 2 soundtr...

Re: Videos

I get the feeling the vocal take was one of the many Dave Sardy made him do. Maybe the track was a late-in-the-day "fuck it let's try it" kind of deal. I personally like it, obviously Brandon's vocals are rough in spots but he shines in a other places. The hero of the track is Mike's guita...

Re: Light Grenades turns 11!!

I remember hunting all over town the day this was released to find a CD copy. The chain stores didn't have it yet but the independent record store had it at the top of the new release shelf, and I didn't even mind paying $33 (NZD) for it. Got it back to the car, put it in my old discman connected to...

Re: MY is barely llegal now lol

Looking back at what feels like a lifetime, this album was my first exposure to the band. But not until Drive was released almost two years after the album. It wasn't until I had my mind blown by Science that I dived into the album Make Yourself. The two have never been on the same level for me; Sci...

While All the Vultures Feed for me this round.

I love Monuments and Melodies, shame to see not everyone else does.

Re: News and Updates

The Australian venues are the same size as the last headlining tour they did in 2012, but the NZ venues are a lot bigger. One is 10,000 and the other is 14,000. I really hope they can fill them out, tickets are a pricey $96NZD ($66USD). The tour is getting a bit of hype here, which is great, but the...

Re: Incubus Survivor: B-sides (Round 9)

If there's one thing I've learned from these survivor thingos it's that my favourite songs from the band are not popular choices. I'd put Midnight Swim in my top five for this list: Midnight Swim Pantomime (sentimental fave, so many good memories attached to this one) Monuments and Melodies Punch Dr...

Re: Incubus Survivor: B-sides (Round 8)

I could have sworn they did a live version of Neither of Us Can See on a late night show. Can't find it though.

Sad to see it go. Definitely my favourite of the three Stealth tracks. The Stealth version with Chrissy Hynde is a bit of a forgotten gem in the band's catalogue.

Re: Narcos

Just finished season two and loved it. Like you said Jelger, they showed Escobar as a human. In fact I think we saw more humanity from him than we did from any other character. He was certainly the most morally consistent character. It was kind of sad to see how he fell so far from grace. Very impre...

Re: Incubus Survivor: B-sides (Round 2)

Why all the hate for Martini? It's like Matchbox20 meets Incubus....not a bad combo if you ask me! Is it because the bridge sounds like the Bridge for Rouges? The solo is pretty much exactly the same, just at a different tempo. I actually think that's really cool; to be able to transplant a solo to...

Re: Incubus Survivor: B-sides (Round 1)

Hold Me Down is an easy first choice for me. I would vote it as the band's worst song. It's the aural version of looking at a grey wall. Plus, releasing it on that app didn't help. It was hard to get hold of and the versions out there sound awful. p.s. If any one has a copy of it that doesn't sound ...

Re: Incubus Survivor: 8 (Round 3)

Went for Familiar Faces this round. Sounding like a relic from the Light Grenades era, I actually thought quite highly of it when the album first came out, but listening to it now it's quite obvious that it was chopped up severely by Skrillex. Going straight to the chorus from the verse makes it sou...
