Re: '8' - Album discussion

I can't believe that BS Sputnik review actually counts on Metacritic. I know reviews shouldn't matter to anyone, but that review is shit. I don't understand the constant need for critics to bash anything that Incubus does.

Re: Incubus Survivor: Morning View (Round 4)

I was there for that performance of Blood on the Ground. It was first time they played it at a show in years, and now it's been another 5 years without it. It's always been a favorite of mine on Morning View. Sad to see it go. I was between Under My Umbrella and Echo this round. I went UMU, but I do...

Re: '8' - Album discussion

I wish the reviews of this album would be done by people who are receptive to the band and/or don't have some preconceived narrative of the band that they're looking to validate.

Re: Incubus Survivor: Morning View (Round 1)

I voted Have You Ever.

I just don't like it at all. Not a fan of Echo (one of the most forgettable incubus songs imo) or Under My Umbrella either. The rest of the album is great.

Re: '8' - Album discussion

I definitely like the song. It's maybe a bit unremarkable, but not everything needs to be. It's a solid, straightforward tune. It's catchy, but I don't know that it's a radio song at the same time.

Glitterbomb is still the clear favorite for me. It's great.

Re: '8' - Album discussion

I just listened to it on an awful sound system (my workplace's overhead speakers), so not good enough to judge it. Brandon sounded good though, and the chorus is catchy.

Re: '8' - Album discussion

I'm gonna hold out. I think it would be weird knowing such a big chunk of each song and then filling in the rest with what's not in the snippets. Seems like it would sound odd when getting the rest of the song. I understand listening to them now, but I've got to keep the first listens whole I think.

Re: '8' - Album discussion

Well, if wanting to just listen to Glitterbomb on repeat is a good sign, then I'm hyped for this album. I am completely in love with this song. There's so much going on, and it seems simultaneously crazy and perfectly measured. It's interesting the whole way through, and it rocks.

I didn't really "get" I Miss You until I heard it live. Always thought it was too sappy. I appreciate it a lot more now though.

Out From Under has my vote. I forgot it existed for a while.

Re: Incubus survivor: Make Yourself (Round 1 + predictions)

I figured Battlestar would go first, but that's probably top half of the album for me.

As for the winner, I'll say probably The Warmth. Rooting for Make Yourself or Consequence though.

Not a fan of Chino's voice/vocals at all. Blech.

Re: News and Updates

8 is releasing on 421? Haha, that's awesome. As for Nimble Bastard, I wasn't very impressed on the first listen, but after the 3rd, I'm definitely liking it a lot. I was hoping to be blown away, and I'm not, but usually the singles don't do that for me anyway. Last time around, Absolution Calling wa...

In other, sadder news, tickets are $99 for non-lawn seats? Fuuuuuuck.

I'll probably be in the lawn at Camden. It's the only way I'll convince my friends to go.

Re: News and Updates

A local station, Radio 104.5 in Philly, said on Facebook that they'll air it on their station at 11:30, so that could be another chance to catch it.

Re: News and Updates

Wow one piece of disappointment after another. Ampitheatres...with Jimmy Eat World? Really?? Last time I saw them dual-headline they played 17 songs. Play small clubs, play 20+ songs, and go deeper into the catalog...the co-headline plan isn't going to make the band relevant again (sadly). Haven't ...

Re: News and Updates

Pretty sure they did random shows without the Deftones last tour? I saw them at the Sands in Bethlehem, PA that tour by themselves. Maybe they'll have random smaller venues like that again.

Re: News and Updates

Well, I'll tell ya. The past few days have been the most shocking and awful that I can remember in 29+ years of life. I could really, REALLY, use some new Incubus music/news as medicine. Wednesday morning I couldn't deal with reality. I had barely slept. I was mad. I was disgusted. I was in disbeli...
